Witch Butter Nails (Trollsmör)
$35.00
Witchbutter or Trollsmör (in swedish trolldom) nails. Within the practice and study of esoteric herbalism there is the notion of volunteer species. These are plants or fungi that come to you and introduce themselves to you, or show up when they are needed or begin to grow near where you live or work etc. These are plants or fungi that are showing themselves to you, and offering their help so to speak.
In this particular case of esotericmycology witches butter was spotted growing outside the window of my forge.
Witches butter has been used traditionally reverse witchcraft. This was done by the cunning folk that was hexed they would place a needle or pin in the witchbutter and it would cause immense pain to those that hexed them. They would then continue to cause them pain until they released their curse, or died. This was spoken of in one of Michael Howard’s classic books on witchcraft in the British isles.
So I made a quenching pill of it and made horseshoe nail needles quenched in them.
And this is a spell I would use these for. If you have been hexed carve the name of the person that hexed you (or don’t if you don’t know for sure and stab the butter with the nails. Then leaving them in refrigerate and add a new pin of needle each day until they release you. We work with the philosophy of folk magic and alchemy in our blacksmithing of iron talismans, by in the quench lends its virtues to the iron when hot and fixes them within the iron philosophically as the quench crystallizes and takes the hot iron from being mutable to fixed. These are practices being revived by Troll Cunning Forge.
*This nail is sold as a curio only.
**All items made by troll cunning forge are a work of art and not a work of fabrication in a factory. Each is uniquely made and roughly based upon the design provided in the items photos. Each may have its unique features that make yours completely different from what was made for another. This ensures that what is made for you is made for you and not another. It also allows the blacksmith to not feel that he is a machine in a factory but a creator and artisan. Make times are at a minimum of 8 weeks, not earlier and may require more time to make. Etsy does not allow for much wiggle room when large and or multiple orders are made in one day, one order can require an extra week to fill, So one can imagine if one receives multiple orders of this size in one day that it can slow down make times by several weeks. Please keep in mind no one wants you to receive your order more than I do.
